Aura is an abstract glimpse into the soul using a camera and various light sources. What you see was captured in the camera and not created using software. It’s a long process that requires the subject to be very still for up to 10 minutes. It is a very difficult task for them. During that time I must cover their visible body with various lights, colors and strokes. It’s a strenuous process for all parties but the results are unique and special.
Artists who paint on traditional canvas or paper use brushes. Artists who paint in the dark, in the air, use light. That is how these images were created. The camera was the canvas as I painted the void with various light sources. It's an incredible experience because you can't see what have created until you are done and look back at the images. Your imagination and your hands have to work together to create the flow of light that will result in a beautiful piece of art.
Birds are amazing creatures. They fly, hop, burrow, dance, and amaze at every turn. Some live in the ground, some in trees, some adapt to our human environment. They are scary, extremely humorous, and always incredible to watch while they work, live and play. I've only experienced a few so far but will be adding more as I carefully explore new grounds.
I love classic Black and White photography. It has a timeless feel to it. You are able to focus on the composition, detail and emotion without the distraction of color. But it's not easy to make a great Black and White photo. You have to visualize what you want to achieve and how best to bring that out. It's a challenge but well worth the effort.
